Privacy Policy
CalcLab is a set of calculators and converters that run entirely in your browser. This policy explains the little data that is involved, and where you are in control of it.
Who runs this site
CalcLab is operated by Chaitanya Lakamsani, an individual residing in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is a personal project; there is no company or organisation behind it. For any privacy question, request, or grievance, write to contact@chaitanyalakamsani.com.
The short version
- Everything you type into a calculator stays on your device. It is never sent to a server, and it is never stored.
- There are no accounts, no sign-in, and no database.
- We use Google Analytics to count page views. It records which pages are visited — never what you enter into them.
- If you are in the EU, EEA, or UK, analytics does not load at all until you accept it.
- You can change your choice at any time using Cookie Preferences in the footer of any page.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or collect your name, email address, phone number, or any other personal detail. There is nowhere to enter one.
The values you enter into calculators never leave your device. Every calculation runs in your browser using JavaScript that was downloaded with the page. This is not a policy choice we could quietly reverse: the site is a set of static files with no server-side code, no API endpoints, and no network requests of its own. Automated tests fail our build if anyone adds one.
The same applies to the image tools. Images you select are decoded and re-encoded by your own browser; they are never uploaded.
Analytics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which calculators people find useful, so we can prioritise improving them. It is configured narrowly:
- Page views only. We record the page path (for example
/tools/emi-calculator) and the page title. We define no custom events. - Never the query string. If a page URL ever carries the values you entered, analytics does not see them — the code that reports page views reads only the path, and the query string is discarded before anything is sent.
- No advertising. Google Signals and ad personalisation are switched off in our code, not merely in a dashboard setting. We do not run ads and we do not build advertising profiles.
- No user IDs. We do not set a user identifier, and we do not attempt to identify you or link visits to a person.
- Production only. Analytics does not run in development or preview builds.
Google collects some information on its own as part of providing the service, which we do not control: your approximate location derived from your IP address (GA4 does not log or store the address itself), your device, browser, operating system, screen size, language, and the page that referred you. Google’s handling of that data is governed by Google’s own terms.
Consent, and where it applies
Analytics cookies require your permission in some places and not others, so we ask where it is required rather than showing everyone a banner.
If you are in the European Union, the wider EEA (Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein), or the United Kingdom, you will see a consent banner and nothing from Google is loaded until you accept — no script is fetched and no Google cookie is set. Declining prevents it entirely; every calculator continues to work exactly the same.
Elsewhere, analytics loads without a banner. You can still turn it off at any time using Cookie Preferences, and we will honour that.
How we know where you are.Our hosting provider tells us the country your request came from, which is standard information attached to any web request. We use it for one thing only: deciding whether to ask for consent. We deliberately do not use your browser language, your timezone, or your device’s location services — the first two describe a preference rather than a place, and the third would require a far more intrusive permission. We do not store your IP address, and we never see your precise location.
Consent expiry and withdrawal
A consent decision lasts 12 months. After that it expires and, if you are in a region where consent is required, you will be asked again. This applies to both answers: an expired “decline” is also re-asked, so a single past choice does not bind you forever.
You can change your mind at any time. Cookie Preferences in the footer of every page clears your current choice and reopens the banner, wherever you are. If you decline, analytics stops immediately and does not load on subsequent visits.
Cookies and browser storage
This site does use cookies: one of our own, plus two from Google once you have allowed analytics. Here is the complete list, with what each one is for.

That is the complete inventory. We use no other cookies, no session storage, no IndexedDB, and no other tracking technology. Values you type into a calculator are held in your browser’s memory while the page is open and are gone when you close the tab.
Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data, because we do not collect any. The only third party involved is Google, as described above, and only where analytics is permitted. Our hosting provider processes requests in order to serve the site, as any web host must.
Children
CalcLab is a general-purpose set of calculators and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect personal information at all.
Your rights
Data protection law gives you rights to access, correct, and delete personal data held about you. We hold none, so in practice there is nothing for us to retrieve or erase. The data on your own device is entirely under your control: clearing your browser’s site data for CalcLab removes everything in the table above. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Changes
If this policy changes, the “last updated” date above changes with it. Material changes to what we collect will be reflected here before they take effect.
Governing law
This policy is governed by the laws of India. Subject to applicable law, any dispute relating to it shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts having jurisdiction over the Owner’s place of residence in the State of Andhra Pradesh, India.
This policy is written in English. If any translated version is published, it is provided for convenience only, and the English version governs in the event of any inconsistency.
